The tradition of teacher-student relationship, or Guru-Sisya Parampara, is a vital aspect of yoga. Chris studied directly with B.K.S. Iyengar when she traveled to Pune, India, to study at the Ramadan Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute many times starting in 1980. Randy began his own pilgrimages to RIMYI in the late '90s, developing a close relationship with Geeta Iyengar. Randy and I mentored with Chris for many years. And Randy became an integral part of the New Orleans yoga community when he was asked by Karin O'Bannon, who started the studio's teacher-training program, to continue it after her passing in 2013.
Both Chris and Randy are clear in their instructions, acute in their observation and teach in a clear and demanding manner. They guide students toward a deeper experience through body, mind, and breath. The combined presence of these two talented teachers will honor the lineage of Iyengar Yoga while celebrating the play and vitality of practice.
Please celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Audubon Yoga Studio by participating in this special weekend with us! The workshop will be offered online as well as in person, but we really hope that you can join us in New Orleans! Students are asked to have a minimum of 6 months Iyengar Yoga experience.
About Chris Saudek
Chris began traveling to Pune in 1980 to study directly with B.K.S. Iyengar. Over decades of dedicated practice, she became one of his trusted students and was encouraged to pass yoga on to her community. Teaching always from the heart, Chris inspired many of her students to become teachers themselves. Randy and I both entered her teacher-training program in Madison, Wisconsin, where she mentored us with patience and depth.
